We didn’t, but another commenter added chia seeds to her mix. Which helped give it a firmer texture.

Smart move on the chia seeds, they can do wonders to help hold a bar together. The Heath toffee crumble is genius. We’ll definitely have to try that out sometime.

After the first batch seemed a wee too crumbly for backpacking convenience, I added 1 Tbsp chia seeds to the next round and they seemed to hold together much better. Also topped the second batch with Heath toffee crumbles in place of the peanuts since that’s what we had on hand. These are a great mid-hike lunch treat. Thanks for the great ideas here!5 stars

They hold up at room temperature just fine and could potentially make it for a 5-6 backpacking trip. They’re tough, but not indestructible. So some caution advised. We recommend testing them out before the big trip.
